Here is what you can expect from each of our routes, value wise, in terms of our fees:

Route 1 - Online:

A quotation tool primarily designed for clients who know exactly what they are looking for. You are largely left to your own devices (i.e. you choose how much and how long you’d like your policy to be, as well as your insurance provider and policy type), but we have an expert support team on hand if you have any queries whatsoever.

How we are paid: When you apply online you can either pay a one-off £25 fee and we take no commission from the Insurer OR choose the ‘no fee’ option where the Insurer will pay us a small amount of commission instead.

If you select the fee based option, the fee payable will be due once your policy goes live. If you choose the ‘no fee’ option, Cavendish Online would receive commission from your chosen insurance provider only once you have decided to purchase the policy.

Route 2 - Guidance:

For customers who have a good idea on what they would like to have in place, we offer our industry leading guided service. Keeping you in the driving seat, our consultants will run you through potential scenarios and suggest products to combat areas where you may be vulnerable. You then choose if and what you would like to proceed with. 

How we are paid: Cavendish Online will receive some commission from your chosen product provider, for the work that we do. We sacrifice a large portion of this commission to bring costs down for you and to keep our monthly prices lower than going direct or through another broker. We are only paid commission by your insurance provider if you decide to purchase a policy.

Route 3 - Advice: 

Our most comprehensive service, perfect for customers who aren’t sure on what they need to have in place, or what kind of products are out there. The initial call takes about 15-20 minutes, then your adviser will take a few days to conduct research and provide a tailored report indicating areas of risk in your lifestyle and how to protect them with certain policies. For this reason, our advised route is also best if you have a pre-existing medical condition as this can be addressed in their research.

Transparency

Knowing how much you are going to pay for a service is important, which is why we are upfront and transparent about all our fees and/or commission and level of service. 

For example, if you were to choose to apply through our website, you would be benefiting from using one of the cheapest routes to buy life insurance in the UK. However, it is the cheapest route available through Cavendish Online as all of the decisions regarding your policy are all made by you. You would still receive top quality support from our UK based team if you needed some help with the process - but generally speaking this route is much more ‘hands off’ than the other two.

Another thing to consider is that you can only purchase basic Life Insurance, and Critical Illness Insurance through the Cavendish Online website. So if you are interested in any of the other products we offer, you will need to speak to one of our experts. 

Our Guidance and Advice services are fantastic for those wanting to complete their Life Insurance quotation over the phone, anyone who has a more complex medical history, dangerous occupations and hobbies, or those who are simply unsure of what the best options are for their current situation. Through these two routes there is no upfront free, so you can have a chat with one of our experts and receive quotations, with no obligation to proceed if you don’t want to. 

You can also access a lot more products and insurers through these routes than you can through the website (Income Protection, Accident and Sickness, Whole of Life, Business Protection, Private Medical Insurance) and our Advice service operates on a ‘whole of market’ basis, meaning they can consider all options to ensure you get the best cover for your needs, whatever they may be.

Whilst the Guidance and Advice routes to apply for cover operate on a commission based basis, they are much more involved in the process of securing your cover and ensuring you get the best policy tailored to your needs, set up correctly. The commission that Cavendish Online would receive should you proceed with a policy though the Guidance or Advice routes effectively pays the adviser or consultant for the work that they do in supporting you. 

Ultimately, we strive to change perceptions of the insurance industry every day, not only by being transparent with how we get paid if you use our services, but by trying to make life insurance accessible to as many people as possible. 

We also try to use jargon-free language where we can in our communications, and have tried to design our email correspondence and reports in such a way that they are easy to digest, in readable fonts. Most importantly, we welcome feedback from our customers if they have any suggestions on how we could improve.
